Balneario Camboriu has a few quite different areas that offer
- Centro: the busy, touristy, older area
- Barra Sul: the newer, quieter south end
- Praia dos Amores & Praia Brava
- The “Interpraias”: low-density living south of BC
- Itapema & Porto Belo: new gated communities and resorts
Centro: the central area
This is the older & busiest area of town; if you like the tourism vibe and don´t mind the noise and traffic – of for rental investment – this is the densest area with mostly older buildings. However, it is still the most sought-after area for most tourists, and probably younger people will like the gazillion of entertainment options here as well.
Barra Sul: the new skyline
The south tip of BC is a narrow stretch, sandwiched between the river (where some buildings have their own marinas) and the ocean. A lot of the newer, high & high end skyscrapers are located here and there´s a good choice of restaurants as well. The new beachside walk starts from here as well, so if you like your surroundings more modern, this may be your spot. The beach here is less crowded as well.
Praia dos Amores & Prava Braia
If BC is “too much” for you – these beaches are just minutes from Centro but are much less dense, with most buildings only 3-6 stories high. The beach here is nicer as well and there are plenty of restaurants and beach clubs.
Maybe a tad less “interesting” if you like to walk around a lot, this feels like living in the condo communities outside of Miami.
Praia Brava (technically in Itajai) is the newest part and is being developed to even higher standards, for large luxury condo´s – this is your spot. In summer, it may take a while (15-30′) to get to Centro, but if you don´t need to go there all the time, Praia Brava is your spot!
Interpraias: the countryside beaches
This 20km scenic drive connects a strong of beautiful beaches with very low density development. It takes a detour over the highway, but if you don´t need the city every day, this can be great countryside retreat while having the city 15-30 minutes from your home. Higher end developments are being planned here, but peace and calm will have their price.
Porto Belo & its resort living
This really isn´t BC any more – we´re talking 20-30min highway; but a number of large-scaled gated communities with golf course, equestrian centers or even a private aerodrome create a point of interest for easy living or
